State of the Gillis Union

Woah…actually, double woah.  Where did the past two (almost three!) months go???  And even a better question, where did my babies go??  Those teeny tiny bundles of joy that didn’t even make it on the growth charts have now grown and grown into walking, talking (mostly in twinspeak) little men.  Photographic evidence:

BEFORE:

~ 6 months

AFTER:

Josh & Brody 8.14.09 weekend 056

See what I mean?!?!  Totally unrecognizable!  I mean are these even MY children?  I’m convinced the baby fairy came to visit and replaced my pudgy adorable little baby boys, with monstrous toddling boys.  I can almost (I said almost) understand why women start to get baby fever once those little cherubs have disappeared.

But I guess there’s no point in complaining about how quickly the time is flying, instead I will give you a update on our little team, a State of the Gillis Union, of sorts. We’ll start with my first born.

Joshua

July 09 PI Vacation

Ah, my little brut, also known as Hurricane Josh.  His favorite things to do right now include terrorizing the house, tupperware, and dog.  Still very fond of Lucy’s food and water bowl.  LOVES to turn off the TV, even if his favorite (Yo Gabba Gabba) show is on.  Favorite word to say is “Uh Oh” and will proceed any bad behavor with the cutest “Uh Oh” you’ve ever heard.  He has the most adorable curls that Matt refuses to let be by utilizing his sister to do some stealth trimming while I am away at work.  Josh loves being affectionate, and although I love his kisses, I do wish he’d put that tongue away :)

As for stats he is 28 lbs and 32 inches tall.  That puts him at the 75th% for height and the 50th% for weight.  That is quite the far cry from being les than the 5th% at 3 months old.  Now on to the baby of the family.

Broderick

Josh & Brody 8.14.09 weekend 006

Our Brody Bear and our little clingster.  If he isn’t attached to someone’s hip, he is just not happy!  And he doesn’t discriminate either, as long as he is held by someone, anyone, he has a perma-smile on his face.  He is our little social butterfly that loves nothing more than to be passed from adoring person to adoring person so he can steal their hat, glasses or earrings.  His favorite phrase is “Hi Baby” which absolutely kills me still when he says it, too freakin’ cute!  The way he walks is hysterical as well, the best way to describe it is a penguin walk.  Hopefully I can capture it on video sometime soon before it dissappears…

As for stats he is 29 1/2lbs and 32.5 inches tall.  That puts him at the 90th% for height and the 50th% for weight.  Brody refuses to let his older brother be his bigger brother!  And this is the same baby that was a mere 4lbs when we brought him home!

As for the boys together, they are just too cute for words.  They have a language all their own and spend the entire day just chatting  and laughing with each other.  It really is amazing to watch the interaction between the two of them, and how they love to crack each other up.  Josh loves to hug his brother, while Brody likes it for oh, all of 2 seconds before pitching a fit.  So then Josh finds another hugging victim, our Lucy.

The summer has truly been a blast, and although I have not been able to update my blog as I would have liked to, I am glad to have been able to spent so much time with all my men.  I find myself stopping at a specific point, thinking that this is the “best” age and I wish I could freeze them there.  But as they change and develop, I keep on believing that now this new stage is the best.  In reality, it is all so great, all with it’s own challenges and I am so excited to see what the future holds for these two princes!!

I’ll leave now with some more photos from over the summer…can’t believe we are steadily marching towards fall!
